Regular Care for Lasting Beauty
A regular maintenance program extends the life of your carpet and keeps it looking presentable. Today’s carpet fibers are designed to hide soil and reflect light, and have the ability to resist soiling and stains. However, the lack of apparent soiling does not eliminate the necessity of regular cleaning.
We recommend vacuuming heavy traffic areas at least twice a week. Less trafficked areas should be vacuumed weekly. There are several types of vacuums on the market, but we recommend finding one with a beater bar and strong airflow. These features work well against dry soil, which abrade carpet fibers giving it a dull appearance. Soil that is ignored can damage carpet fibers permanently.
While frequent vacuuming is good for your carpets, it won’t cover for the heavy duty cleaning your carpets will need from time to time.
Professional cleaning is also a requirement to keep your Carpet One warranty. Ideally, a trained professional should perform a deep carpet cleaning service every 1 ½ to 2 years. We recommend having them come to your home for a visual inspection and obtain a written agreement before the work is started. Remember to keep your receipts for proof of maintenance service should a warranty claim arise.
When choosing a cleaning method, fiber content is the most important factor to consider. Most modern carpets are constructed with synthetic fibers such as nylon, polyester or olefin, and can withstand most cleaning methods. However, natural fibers such as wool, cotton, silk and sisal may require specialized care. If you have any questions or concerns about your new carpet, call your Carpet One retailer.
